This Workshop is presented by Courtney McGinn Social Media Manager for KreativElement, a group of passionate, creative marketers based in Omaha. We look at marketing as an opportunity to tell stories that foster recognition and brand loyalty. With the latest technologies and techniques, we use social media, web design, copywriting, photography, and videography to create dynamic, shareable content and represent your unique qualities in the best possible light.

Mary Kiteley has an extensive background in menswear construction and will be sharing some of her knowledge in our newest workshop. Learn about structural techniques that are essential in making successful tailored garments.

This workshop will provide a basic introduction to Adobe Photoshop. Participants will need to provide their own laptops for the workshop. Heather and Jameson Hooton of Hooton Images will be the guest speakers for the workshop.

This workshop will walk through the steps of how to create that ever important business plan.  We are pleased to announce that Erica Wassinger of The Start-Up Collaborative will be our guest speaker for the workshop.



Saturday, September 30th, 2017 – The Fashion Institute Midwest is proud to open our doors to our Designer Workroom & Headquarters.

We will be holding our first designer workshop where designers will be trained on the equipment and use of the facility.  As this workshop is focused on equipment, designers applying must have a background in sewing machine use.  This will be a rare opportunity to learn from the industry’s best as Monnie Sudman from Monnie’s Sales & Service will be instructing designers on serger, button-holer and straight stitching machines.  *All designers must complete training before use of equipment, additional training will be announced and scheduled by the workroom manager.

12:30p-1:30p: Following our first workshop, we will be holding an open house for designers not attending that would like a tour of the Designer Workroom, must RSVP to

APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE!  Fashion Institute Midwest presents a workshop for designers: Retail Prep & Pricing.  Topics to include: pricing keystone, how to talk to consumers, properly labeling garments, custom orders and more.  FIM supported designer, Jane Round will be presenting to share her own story, successes and opportunities she’s found.  Natalie Navis, owner of The Fold, a luxury boutique in Countryside Village, will be sharing her experiences from a buyer’s perspective.  Location is TBA.  Designers, please fill out the application below.

Fashion Institute Midwest presents a workshop for designers: How to Ask for Money for Your Business.  Topics to include: How to pitch to investors, how to be confident in asking for money from customers, how to approach retailers.  Denny Minton and Bruce Dickes of MintonDickes Consulting, who are leadership and sales consultants working with Fortune 500 firms will be presenting.
